Whilst visiting His Highness the Maharaja, we were mesmerised. No one story or city could capture the magic of India. But Jodhpur with its lake palace, forts and temples has ever since inhabited our dreams. The summer palace of Bal Samand was home. Here Vaara – the Maharaja’s grand daughter – took her first steps. This fragrance was created for her.

Our journey of discovery began cradled in an airy warmth. A blend that was both soft and spicy. (Coriander, carrot seeds and quince). Advancing into the gardens roses perfumed the afternoon. Indian magnolia, freesia, peony and iris came to facet the bouquet. And just as the descending, heavy sun interrupted the still lake, just as the red earth Mehrangarh fort contrasted with the icy blue hues of the town walls…. then honey, tonka, musk and warm woods and resin arose to create a peaceful balance that transformed sensational Rajasthan (all spices, colourful petals, and silks) into a calming, majestic, whispering scent.
